Mobile Deposit
What is mobile deposit?
Mobile deposit lets you deposit checks using your smartphone camera through your bank's mobile app. Photograph the front and back of the check, enter the amount, and submit. The bank processes the deposit, typically making funds available within one to two business days. This convenience works well for occasional checks when remote desktop scanning is not warranted.
Limits and availability
Banks impose daily and monthly limits on mobile deposits, often lower than remote deposit capture limits. New accounts may have lower limits or delayed availability. Business accounts sometimes have different limits than personal accounts. Check your bank's specific limits before relying on mobile deposit for large checks. Branch or ATM deposit may be necessary for amounts exceeding limits.
Taking good check photos
Use good lighting and a dark, flat background. Fill the frame with the check while keeping all edges visible. Hold the phone steady to avoid blur. The app will prompt you to retake photos that are unclear. Endorse the check for mobile deposit before photographing the back. Keep the physical check until you confirm the deposit posted correctly.
